My Reset Checklists
Alright, ever since I posted my cleaning checklist, y’all have been asking about my reset. (Get the PDF HERE and get started on your on resets!) I pinky promise this blog isn’t just going to be PDFs and checklists, but it’s so important to me that we have a relationship and that, when you ask for something, I respond. This is an interactive community and I’m so glad we found each other!
If you’re a part of the Instagram crew, you know that every Monday is my reset day. Every. Single. Monday. Because I’m not someone who enjoys my life being scheduled in 15 minute increments, I’ve found that having automated systems around recurring life tasks allows for much more freedom in my schedule (and my brain, more on that in the next paragraph!). This works for me because I don’t waste energy feeling like “I should”, I just do because every Monday “I do”. The beauty of checklists is that they also take the guessing game out of tasks and that things happen much more frequently than if a checklist didn’t exist — so hurrah for no more coming back from vacation and wondering when the last time was that you changed your bedsheets, no more wondering why the floors are “already sticky”!
Although I know there are probably way more “techy” ways to go about this, I find that my Notes app works really well for me. If I am zooming around the house and discover we’re running low on something, I put it in Notes; if I commit to something that requires follow through, I put it in Notes; if I hear a song I like that I want to add to a playlist, I put it in Notes; if I come across a book I want to read, (everyone together now) I put it in Notes! Having a place to store these things that I need to remember outside of my brain frees my mind to create and allows it to problem solve subconsciously. On Mondays, I go through and give all my Notes a proper home: some belong in a different list, others require a quick text to close a loop, some can be checked off by ordering something to restock. I also keep track of all of my checklists (cleaning and reset) on my Notion dashboard. This helps me to keep it all organized and keep track of my progress. And, I wanna be “kewl”, but I can’t get over having a physical planner. I love crossing things off the list too much! Have used the Erin Condren planners for the last 3 years and just love them!
Take 10 minutes this weekend to print out the PDF and personalize it to work for you — add what you need (aka what takes up valuable brain space), remove what you don’t, and share how you’re streamlining your tasks below!
